In 2008 I created The Go Getta Scholarship. My first year of the scholarship no one applied but the years after that I had many applicants each year. I have been blessed to receive funding through many contributing Go Gettas, fundraising, and my own personal donations.
This year I am blessed to announce again that Tiana Wilson a graduate from McKinley High School was the recipient of this year Go Getta Scholarship. On Thursday Tiana will be entering into her first year of college at Syracuse University studying Biochemistry.
Tiana exemplifies a true Go Getta Spirit and have made up in her mind that nothing will stop her in pursuit of her dreams. A quote from Tiana essay she shared “I want to change lives, make history and leave my mark”. This young lady story brought me to tears and the more I read it the more I seen myself in her.
If we say we want to see our youth do better, stop talking and do something. Put your money where your mouth is.
I was told that you could tell what a person value according to where they spend their money. Well I value our youth and if you feel the same way just make an investment in them! Each one teach one. And each one can reach one!
